In 1945, Ruth and Elliot Handler and Harold Matson launch a new company named Mattel. The name “Mattel” came from the founders names, they combined their names and surnames of the merger of the company name (Matt-El) emerged. Shortly after, Harold Matson sold his share to Handler. In late 1950, Mattel made the motion that established as the world leader in the toy industry, the creation of Barbie.
