Eggs
Female cells containing 23 chromosomes that are stored in the ovaries. When fertilised by sperm, an egg forms an embryo. A woman is born with all the eggs she will ever have. Each month, an egg is released during ovulation. If it isn’t fertilised, menstruation will occur about two weeks later. During IVF, fertility drugs are given which cause the ovaries to produce numerous eggs instead of just one.
